What Is Reiki

Reiki could be a powerful holistic healing system; it heals on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Therefore what's Reiki? The term Reiki is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy. It is a very simple and easily acquired healing technique that uses universal life energy, the energy which permeates our entire universe and every one living things.

This universal life energy is called qi or chi in China, prana in India, and ki in Japan and this is often where the Reiki name derives. It circulates throughout the body and in an energy field surrounding the body. This energy field, long been known to healers and mystics, is now verified by scientists. Recent scientific experiments have verified the existence of this life force energy.

Scientists have proven that everything in the universe, at a sub-atomic level, is created of energy. Health is that the harmonious flow of life energy, while imbalances in this flow, thanks to unhealthy habits or negative emotions lead to illness. Therefore this refined energy is accountable for the processes in our body on all levels: physical, emotional and mental.

Reiki channels universal life energy through the hands of the practitioner into the body of the receiver and balances the energy flow in the body. Reiki could be a holistic healing system, that means that it addresses the whole person: the physical, mental, emotional and additionally the spiritual levels.

The Reiki Philosophy

Although relatively recent in its development as a more-or-less structured form, the Reiki philosophy dates back to thousands of years ago. The Reiki philosophy is built on the basic concept of vital energy. This vital energy or life force energy is called "ki" in Japanese, similar in theory to the Indian prana and the Chinese qi or chi.

The Reiki Philosophy: Ki
Ki is understood to be the energy behind everything that is: plants, animals, humans, air, rocks, water, sunlight, earth, and so on. Within the Reiki philosophy, everything is believed to have its own kind of ki. While ki is the basis of everything that we experience in life, it obviously manifests in many varied and spectacular ways.

There are also different kinds of ki that relate to human qualities and characteristics, such the physical body, thoughts, emotions, and states of consciousness.

To put it simply, ki is the animating force behind everything in existence.

The Reiki Philosophy: Rei

Reiki is itself a specific type of ki. A fusion of two Japanese concepts, Reiki is ki that has been guided by rei. Rei is understood to be the higher consciousness or higher mind. It is compassionate and intelligent, free of negativity and filled with everything worthwhile and good. In modern English, some might refer to the Japanese rei with more familiarity as God, Holy Spirit, or God Consciousness.

The Reiki Philosophy: Reiki
As a Higher Energy that is believed to emanate directly from our very Source, Reiki has an intelligence of its own and needs no guidance from the Reiki practitioner. Though the word tends to hold some negative connotations, it could be said that a good Reiki practitioner acts as a channel for the healing wisdom of Reiki Energy.

The Reiki philosophy has most adequately described Reiki as "the primal energy of the universe being guided by the highest wisdom of the universe."
As an intelligent and benevolent force, it is absolutely impossible for Reiki to be diluted by any form of negativity. It remains completely unaffected by our conscious thinking mind. According to the Reiki philosophy, it can literally only create good. This is what makes Reiki such a powerful healing modality.

The Reiki Philosophy: Reiki is For Everyone
The power of Reiki is the power of a benevolent universe, the very essence of our Source. As such, it can be learned and applied by anyone who wishes to put it to use for his or her own benefit and for the benefit of others.
It has traditionally been understood that Reiki can only be introduced to an individual through a personal attunement by a certified Reiki Master, but understanding Reiki to be what it is means that this powerful healing energy is fully accessible to any who wish to experience it.

The decision to receive certified training as a Reiki practitioner has traditionally been a very costly one, exclusive to those who could afford it. Recognizing how this contradicts the Reiki philosophy, however, and capitalizing on the advent of the internet and newer technology, a pioneering few have determined to offer certified Reiki training for a fraction of its traditional cost, making it an easy investment for the aspiring practitioner.

The Reiki Philosophy: Learn More!
Since this has been only a very preliminary introduction to The Reiki Philosophy, you may conclude that you'd like to know more. The best way to learn Reiki is to experience it for yourself at minimum expense.

History of Reiki

Reiki In JapanThe Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai

Dr. Usui discovered Reiki during a mysticial experience on Mt. Kurama, a sacred mountain north of Kyoto, Japan in March, 1922. A few months later he started a Reiki organization called the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai who's purpose was to practice and teach Reiki. He was the first president.

After he died, he was followed by a succession of presidents: Mr. Ushida, Mr. Iichi Taketome, Mr. Yoshiharu Watanabe, Mr. Toyoichi Wanami, Ms. Kimiko Koyama and the current successor to Dr. Usui as of 1998 is Mr. Kondo. Contrary to what has been said by some in the west, there is no "lineage bearer" or "Grandmaster" in the system of healing started by Dr. Usui, only the succession of presidents listed above. While Dr. Hayashi was a respected Reiki master, he was never in charge of the Usui system of Reiki.

Reiki is a generic word in Japan, and is used to describe many types of healing and spiritual work. It is not exclusive to the system of healing based on Dr. Usui's method. The system of healing that evolved from Dr. Usui's method is called the Usui System of Natural Healing or Usui Reiki Ryoho.

Origins
There has been a lot of speculation about where Reiki came from, but there has been little confirmation of most of these ideas. Some say that Reiki originated from Buddhism or that it contains Buddhist concepts or techniques. I spoke with a Japanese Reiki master who is also a Buddhist and has done historical research into Reiki in Japan. He said that he could see no connection between Reiki and Buddhism and that he felt that Reiki is religiously neutral. While Dr. Usui may have been a Buddhist, he had also studied Christianity and had lived with a Christian family for a time. It is clear he had a very broad background in many religious teachings and philosophies

The clearest and most authentic understanding we have been able to discover is that Dr. Usui originated the system of healing he taught and practiced based first on his mystical experience on Mt. Kurama and then later by making use of his studies in many different areas of knowledge. Usui Reiki has no connection to Buddhism, nor is it connected to Tibetan Buddhism or Tibetan shamanism or any other religion. One of the stories says Dr. Usui discovered the Reiki symbols in a Tibetan sutra, but even though people have carefully looked, no one has been able to find a Tibetan sutra with Reiki symbols in it. This is further validated by Dr. Usui’s own writing in which he says, "Our Reiki Ryoho is something absolutely original and cannot be compared with any other (spiritual) path in the world." Benefits of Reiki

When a person comes for a Reiki healing, he or she may not know anything about what Reiki is an does. What they have heard about it is that stress relieving; a feeling of total mental and physical relaxation. Sometimes you may have a person that has a chronic illness. The reason that they have come for Reiki is to be treated "immediately".

This is fine, except that it is important for the client to know that they may have to do some life altering work for themselves. Reiki works if the person desires to be healed and is willing to raise their consciousness to remain well.

There are several theories about the number of Reiki treatments that it takes to heal various physical problems. One theory is a need for twenty-one consecutive treatments for the chronic physical problems. Another theory groups various types of disease and assigns number of treatments.

Treatments must be done on a daily basis if a chronic illness is to be healed. If this is a problem, then whatever the clement can afford is what will be. Also, if the body has manifested a dis-ease, there must be an imbalance somewhere and we need to address that.

There is also long distance healing with Reiki. The person does not need to be present to be healed. It is very important to share with the client that the Reiki master is merely a "channel" and not the person who is actually doing the healing, but merely the facilitator.

Following are the Benefits a person gets with Reiki:

~Vitalizes both the body and soul
~Balances the organs and glands and their bodily functions
~Re-establishes spiritual equilibrium and mental well being
~Promotes creativity
~Balances the body's energies
~Treats symptoms and causes of illnesses
~Loosens up blocked energy and promotes a state of total relaxation
~Relieves pain
~Cleanses the body of toxins
~Strengthens the immune system
~Adjusts itself according to the needs of the recipient
~Enhances personal awareness and strengthens intuition
~Enhances meditation
~Clearing negative energy
~Is an extremely pleasant, holistic method of healing!

Through Reiki you will experience the blessing of spiritual growth and change. Reiki is the divine grace of God, an immeasurable gift and a wonderful tool to help one develop conscious awareness, the very key to enlightenment.
As in most things in life, Reiki must be experienced to be appreciated. Source

How will Reiki Energy Healing work?

We tend to have many completely different systems in our body - we have a skeletal system, a muscular system, a cardiovascular system, a respiratory system - but there's additional to us than meets the eye. We tend to also have an energy system.

Of course, everything in this universe is energy and has an energy field that extends outwards. Reiki may be a Japanese word meaning Universal Life force Energy and therefore Reiki refers back to the life force energy all around us. Our energy system is influenced by our thoughts, beliefs, emotions and even our karma and life lessons.

This energy system includes the chakras which are like spinning wheels that move the energy throughout our body, and our aura which is the energy field that radiates out from our bodies. This electromagnetic energy field vibrates at completely different levels and can be experienced in colors, sounds or images. This energy in and around us can be seen by individuals who have developed their psychic sense, spiritual or energy healers, and it can conjointly be seen using special technology to require photos that show the energy around us.

Systems in the human body are healthy once they are flowing, and our energy system is that the same. After we will enable life force energy to flow through us freely it nourishes our being and we feel important, energised, peaceful and typically "within the flow" of life as we have a tendency to permit the energy to flow.

However often we have a tendency to have blocks, holes, or negative energy in our energy system due to fears, trauma, negative reminiscences, stored emotion, buried anger, unresolved issues and any variety of these reasons! Some individuals in want of energy healing report things like feeling stuck in life, not being able to move forward, feeling fatigued, feeling drained of energy, feeling done in or feeling tired.

A Reiki practitioner or energy healer has opened and become a channel always force energy to flow through them. This energy comes in through the crown of the pinnacle, and flows out of the practitioners hands.

During a treatment the practitioner can place their hands on totally different areas of your body and allow the present of Reiki energy to flow through their hands into your body. As the pure life force energy flows it clears out the recent and flows to areas that need additional energy. Energy healing and cleansing releases blocked or sluggish negative energy from each the auric field and therefore the physical and emotional bodies. It is a relaxing and insightful experience - the final detox! -Riley Hinton

What Is Aura

Everything in the Universe seems to be just a vibration. Every atom, every part of an atom, every electron, every elementary “particle”, even our thoughts and consciousness are just vibrations. Hence, we may define the Aura as a electro-photonic vibration response of an object to some external excitation (such as an ambient light for example). This definition is sufficient for the purpose of reading Auras, providing that we can train ourselves to see the Aura vibration.

The most important property of the Aura seems to be the fact that it contains
INFORMATION about the object.

Aura around living (conscious) objects (people, plants ...) changes with time, sometimes very quickly. Aura around non-living object (stones, crystals, water...) is essentially fixed, but can be changed by our conscious intent. Above facts have been observed by scientists in Russia, who have been using Kirlian effect to study Auras for the last 50 years.

The Aura around humans is partly composed from EM (electromagnetic) radiation, spanning from microwave, infrared (IR) to UV light. The low frequency microwave and infrared part of the spectrum (body heat) seems to be related to the low levels of the functioning of our body (DNA structure, metabolism, circulation etc.) whereas high frequency (UV part) is more related to our conscious activity such as thinking, creativity, intentions, sense of humor and emotions. Russian scientists, who seem to be about 3 decades ahead of everyone else in Aura research, make experiments suggesting that our DNA can be altered, by influencing its microwave Aura. The high frequency UV part is very important and most interesting but largely unexplored. And this part can be seen with naked eyes.

Why do we need to see auras ?
Colors and intensity of the aura, especially around and above the head have VERY special meanings. Watching someone's aura you can actually see the other person's thoughts before you hear them expressed verbally. If they do not agree with what this person is saying, you effectively see a lie every time. No one can lie in front of you undetected. We cannot fake the Aura. It shows our True Nature and intentions for everyone to see.

Also, aura is our spiritual signature. When you see a person with a bright, clean aura, you can be SURE that such person is good and spiritually advanced, even if he/she is modest and not aware of it. When you see a person with a gray or dark aura, you may be almost SURE, that such person has unclear intentions, regardless how impressive, eloquent, educated, "good looking" or "well dressed" he/she seems to appear.

It is ESPECIALLY important to check the aura of any religious leader, "spiritual teacher", "master" or a "guru". Such a person should have a clearly defined yellow-golden halo around the head. If he/she does not have it, you are MUCH better on your own.

Joining a sect or a religion that is led by incompetent people without good Auras is very dangerous for your consciousness. Where is the danger ? When the time comes to really use the information stored in your consciousness from this lifetime, there may be almost nothing useful there, if you focus your life on following rituals and the flock of other people. In such case it is necessary to re-learn everything from the beginning. Most sect, religion and political leaders have only two things in mind: money and power to control people. And you can SEE it in their Aura for yourself. Imagine changes on Earth if many people can see Auras of their leaders and start choosing them on the basis of their Auras.

By reading Aura it seems possible to
diagnose malfunctions in the body (diseases) long before physical symptoms become evident. By consciously controlling your Aura you can actually heal yourself.

However, healing of the physical body is nothing in comparison to what seeing and reading auras can do for our consciousness, spiritual development and our awareness of Nature.

Everyone has an Aura. But most people on Earth have VERY WEAK and dull Auras. This seems to be a direct consequence of their life long materialistic attitude negating and suppressing the development of consciousness, cultivating fear, envy, jealousy and other similar emotions. Such attitude suppresses their True Nature, and their Auras seem to become suppressed too.

When you learn to see Auras, be prepared for a REALLY HARD question: “Can you tell me what my Aura is ?” and the situation when you don't see any Aura or you see something you don't want to talk about. One of the best answers I found is “why don't you learn to see it for yourself ? “. And this is one of the main reasons why I teach people to see auras.

When people realize that their Aura is on display and many people are able to see it, they will watch what they think. And they will try to see and improve their own Aura. In the process they will become better and wiser, being able to recognize intentions of other people. Surely, the entire world will become much better if all people can see and read Auras.

Children and the Aura:
Very young children (up to 5 years of age) see auras naturally. Infants frequently look ABOVE a person in front of them. When they don't like the color of the aura above the head, or if this color is much different from their parent's aura, they cry, no matter how much smiling the person does.

Children have much cleaner and stronger auras than most of adults, who are usually completely enslaved by the materialistic world and suppress their Nature by following superficial examples. When I taught my 12 year old son to see his own Aura, he told me that when he was little he was able to see Auras most of the time. But no one paid any attention, so he thought that it was not important and maybe there was something wrong with his eyesight. This is a typical scenario. In my opinion children should learn to see and read Auras in a primary school, so they never lose this natural ability.

What Is Chakra

Chakra is an old concept that has been developed by Indian traditional medicine practitioners and refers to imaginary vortices that have been believed to lie on the ether of an individual. The different vortices are named Chakras and were described as centers of spirals of energy that permeate from different physical points on an individual's body to the subtle bodies' layers of a heart shaped fan formation. The Chakra vortices are thought of as centers of reception and transmission of whorls of energy.

Most of the information available on Chakra is derived from the Upanishads which are difficult to document. Upanishads had been orally passed down, nearly more than thousand years, before written down initially between the years 1200 and 900 BCE.

The chakra vortices are 7 in number. These 7 Chakras are centers of energy that lie on the subtle body. Chakras are often typically described as wheel-like, or flower-like. The wheel-like module describes the vortex as divided into segments by a number of spokes; thus, the Chakra would resemble a wheeled structure. The flower-like module depicts the Chakra as a vortex whose perimeter is outlined by a number of petals. Accordingly, both modules depict Chakras as vortices that possess unique petals or segments.

Chakra resembles an electrical capacitor in the way it stores and outsources energy. The autonomic and central nervous system pathways are located along the spinal cord and show intersecting courses in many instances. The points of neuronal intersection are strong energy centers that are known as Chakras. Chakras are of 3 types.

The lower Chakras are sometimes named animal Chakras and refer to energy centers that lie in the regions between the toes and the pelvis. The lower Chakras are evidence of evolution originating from the animal kingdom. The middle or human Chakras are located throughout the length of the spinal cord. The divine or higher Chakras are located in the region between the top of the spinal cord and the vault of the head.

Learning Reiki

http://7chakra.com/reiki/category/aura

In exceptional cases involving some gifted and unusual people, I have seen people access the Reiki energy by praying for it or asking their Guides or Deity to help them acquire the gift. Many people have a gift for running healing energy similar to Reiki, putting their hands on those who need healing and letting the energy flow; I embrace them as healing brethren and welcome them to read as much here as they can to increase their knowledge of hands-on healing. However, most people who want to use the Reiki for hands-on healing need to be attuned.

One of the beauties of Reiki is that you don't need to have an exceptional gift or be a saint or enlightened being to open to it and use it. You can be attuned to Reiki and use it whether or not you smoke, drink, eat red meat , swear, or enjoy a healthy sex life. Children can be attuned to Reiki. I have even attuned a seeing-eye dog to Reiki. Receiving Reiki can help anyone do the healing s/he needs to do in order to progress along his/her spiritual path. Well I know that even Reiki Masters can have a lot of growing left to do!

So after you have read what I have to say on this site, checked out some of the other Reiki sites we link to, and perhaps even read one or two of the suggested books, and have decided, "Yes, I want to do this," the next step is to find a Master to study with.

http://www.simplysparkle.com/reiki1.php
Some of the Reiki sites on the net have lists of Masters with their email addresses. You may find that a Master in your area has a site on the net. You can go to the metaphysical bookstores in your area and ask about Reiki Masters. In my city, there are two magazines that have classified ads for metaphysical services. You can write to Reiki people you meet on the net to ask about Masters in your area. If you can find two or three names, even better.

Then you interview these people. It is very important to feel comfortable with your teacher and to know that the two of you communicate well with each other; by this I mean that if you ask a question, you get an answer to that question that you understand. Some of the nicest people in the world can be on two different wavelengths, and it would be hopeless for them to try to work as student and teacher.

How To Give Reiki Healing

During a Reiki treatment the client lays down fully clothed in a quiet safe space, meditative gentle music is very useful in creating a nice environment. You should make sure that you are not going to be disturbed for the length of the session. So make sure that the phone is switched of and you will not be having any interruptions. Make sure that your client is warm and comfortable, a mattress on the floor makes a good treatment area but make sure that you can get all around your client and wont make yourself stiff by bending to much.

You can then state your intention to give a healing session, for example: I intend to give (name) a Reiki healing, I ask that all energies flow for the Highest good in accordance with Divine will. You can then sit quietly for a moment, draw your Reiki symbol, place your hands in the prayer position and imagine the healing energy entering your crown chakra and flowing down to your palms.

You can then begin by placing your hands in the positions listed and holding them there for 3-5 minutes. If you are sensitive you may feel a warmth or tingling sensation your hands. When the sensations subside a little you can then move to the next position. Try to be as quiet as you can and see if you can get a sense of where to place your hands, the person may have a weak area that needs more energy. Try to let your intuition guide you, and to feel what is happening with the sensations.

To finish a Reiki treatment session you may like to sweep you hands slowly down the clients aura, starting at the crown and moving slowly down the body towards the feet. Do this three times. Make sure that your client is fully grounded before they get up and move about. The more practice that you get the easier it will be, so try to share Reiki treatments as often as you can.

It is very helpful to keep records of all your healing sessions. You might want to keep a spiritual journal detailing your Reiki journey. In it you can record all your feelings and experiences as your Reiki path unfolds.
Taken from Reiki Level one Manual.

Three Levels of Reiki

Level One of Reiki teaches and enables you to do hands-on healing with the Reiki energy. It is intended as a level where you will do a lot of healing work for yourself and for your friends and family. It is certainly a well-accepted principle of any healing modality that one can only guide others where s/he has gone him/herself, and Mrs Takata stressed that Level One is about self-healing. The commitment here is to use the Reiki to heal into the best one can be. The class should teach you about what Reiki is, how it was discovered, and how one can use it to heal onself and others.

At this level, I also like to teach some basic techniques of personal energy management, such as grounding, centering, shielding, and clearing the aura. It is not a function of the Reiki itself that one picks up "stuff" from clients, but the empathic sort who are attracted to this work can often do so anyway, and it is worthwhile learning how to prevent it in the first place or clean up the effects if the prevention isn't successful.

Level Two gives you some very powerful tools to add to your healing work. The three symbols taught at Level Two include one that concentrates the Reiki energy, one that focuses the energy on the mental and emotional processes underlying illness, and one that allows you to send Reiki across distance and time.

The "Power Symbol" can be used in hands-on or distance healing to focus the energy. The "Mental/Emotional" symbol can be used in both distance and hands-on healing to calm the recipient and to bring emotional and mental material out of cellular memory to be dealt with consciously.

The "Distance Symbol" allows one to contact the higher self of a recipient and send Reiki energy across any distance for that individual's healing. It can also be used to send energy to a specific time and place. Hence, it can be used to send energy to yourself as a child or even in a past life. It can also send Reiki into the future, to an important meeting or event.

Level Three was traditionally the training where one learned how to teach Reiki and pass on the attunements. In recent years, many Masters have begun teaching it as two levels. In the first, which may be called "Level Three" or "Advanced Reiki Training" one is attuned to the Master Symbol and taught how to use it to further amplify the Reiki energy in one's life and in one's healing work for self and others. Later, when one is ready to commit oneself to teaching Reiki, s/he can take the "Master's Training" and learn how to teach and pass attunements.

Traditionally, most Masters would ask a student to wait for a specific period between each of the levels. In this time of accelerated world healing, many Masters are offering Levels One and Two in a single weekend. My feeling is that one gains by having some time to use the energy and feel it at work between levels; also, completing the cleansing process can help one be more open and ready for the next level. But many people are taking the first two levels together and doing very well with them. You will find the way of learning that is best for you.

Reiki is growing and changing as it becomes more widespread in our world. Many of us celebrate this, seeing it as an indication that humanity is growing and changing with it, and becoming better able to run this energy for healing our world. Some people look back to the dramatic physical healings that Usui was reported to have brought about, and are trying to move back to more traditional teachings in search of a "purity" of Reiki that they think might be stronger.

This is another situation where I think both sides are sincere and well-meaning in their practice. I prefer to trust that the healing Intelligence we know as Reiki will guide its --and the Reiki community's!-- evolution for the highest good, just as it does in healing the individual. Perhaps it is trying to show us the creative potential that dances at the heart of any set of opposites.

Embracing Reiki is a commitment to your own growth, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. As you progress through the levels, you become equipped to help yourself, then others, then the world community as a whole. The potential of this energy and the work you can do with it is endless.

Science and the Quantum Nature of Reiki

Suppose everyone lived in a two dimensional world where there was only length and width and no height. Then, one day, a three dimensional man appears and walks across the world. This would completely throw the two dimensional people for a loop.

They would wonder at the footprints that appeared quickly from nowhere and vanished again just as fast. Immediately, the questions would begin. Could it have been God who made those footprints? If so, which God was it? Is he trying to tell the world something?

All of the different interpretations of this would probably start a totally new religion. Scientists and religious leaders would be working together to find the explanation for those footprints. The scientists would run tests and the religious leaders would pray for an answer.
This is an example of the quantum puzzle evident today. The difference is rather than imagining a three dimensional world, people are having trouble with believing in a four dimensional one. To make things even more confusing, the genius Dr. Stephen Hawking has suggested that there are at least eleven dimensions.
The truth is no one knows what reality actually is because the whole picture cannot be seen. Because people only have the mental capacity to see three dimensions, it’s not possible to see the hundreds of dimensions that might be around. Quantum Theory talks about the Universe’s holographic nature. Science is only starting to figure that one out. However, the implications of this new science can’t be ignored any longer. In addition, it may help others to understand how the science of Reiki works.
Everyone who has experienced Reiki energy doesn’t need an explanation of how it exists. Reiki teachers, practitioners, and healers all have their own individual ways of connecting to Reiki energies depending on what methods they studied. There’s no right or wrong way to connect to it. However, many have witnessed its existence.
A simple scientific explanation for the people that need one is that Reiki energy lives in a dimension that most people cannot perceive directly. Whether that dimension is the fourth one or even beyond that is something that may never be known. However, the fact is that this energy simply is.

Become a reiki master

Reiki is a sacred practice that requires reverence and our greatest respect if we are to experience its most wonderful value. The benefits of Reiki can be all encompassing, not only giving us the ability to heal ourselves and others, which by itself is deeply meaningful, but also bringing guidance for our lives. Its unlimited nature can create opportunities for continual growth, unfoldment and the awakening of our own boundless potential. The ever increasing joy, peace and abundance that await those who sincerely pursue the path of Reiki are not only a blessing to be enjoyed, but also contain the healing that the planet so dearly needs. Those who have been initiated into Reiki often feel this greater potential and aspire to continue on to the Advanced and Reiki Master levels.

The desire to grow is inherent in simply being alive. As we look around ourselves and observe living things, we can clearly see that the one activity that all living things share is growth.

The joys of becoming a Reiki master are many and you don't necessarily have to teach in order for the Master training to be useful. The additional healing energy, symbols, techniques and knowledge will add value to your healing abilities. Treating yourself, giving yourself and others healing attunements and treating others in person and at a distance will all be noticeably improved. The fact that you can pass Reiki on to friends and family is also a definite plus. Many take the Master training with just this in mind. However, if you ever decide to formally teach, you will be able to do so. As each person takes the Reiki Master training, and increases their personal vibration, this adds to the vibration of the whole planet!
One of the greatest joys of Reiki Mastership is teaching Reiki to others. Imagine the thrill of witnessing the members of your Reiki class receiving Reiki energy during the attunement. Then, as you guide them in its use, sharing in their joy and amazement as they experience it's gentle power flowing though them for the first time. As your students use Reiki to help family, friends and clients, a wonderful sense of spiritual connection will develop between all of you. Feelings of compassion and love for everyone will be strengthened as you merge with the Reiki Consciousness and know more deeply that we come from God and that we are all one in God.
All information about Reiki has come to us through Mrs. Takata who learned the system of Reiki in Japan in 1935. According to Mrs. Takata, the definition of a Reiki Master is anyone who has received the Master attunement and Master symbol, understands how to give all the attunements and has actually taught a Reiki class thus passing Reiki on to others. Those who have taken Reiki Master training and not taught at least one person would not qualify as Reiki Masters and should call themselves Reiki Master practitioners until they do teach. If you have taught a friend or family member, then you qualify as a Reiki Master.
After Mrs. Takata passed on in December, 1980, the twenty-two Masters she had initiated continued to teach and eventually began initiating other Masters. At first they taught in the same way Mrs. Takata had done, teaching the complete system in three degrees. Eventually some Masters began making changes to the system, adding knowledge and healing skills they had acquired from experience and inner guidance. Some took the third degree that originally contained the complete Master training and broke it up into two or more parts. Some actually broke the Master degree up into as many as five parts, calling each part a new degree.
When seeking a Reiki Master to take the Master training from, it is important to ask her/him exactly what you will be able to do after you take the Master training from them. Will you receive the complete training and be able to initiate others into all the degrees including full Reiki Master or will something be left out, requiring you to take additional sub-levels or degrees and pay additional fees? Because of the changes some have made to the system of Reiki, this is a very important question.
Becoming a Reiki Master is a serious step that must be preceded by necessary preparation. One must first take Reiki I&II and Advanced Reiki training. It is also necessary to meditate on your life purpose and decide if Reiki Mastership is in harmony with it. Then, it is important to find a Reiki Master to study with who is competent and who you feel attuned to and will support you after you become a Reiki Master.
Becoming a Reiki Master implies that you will be able to initiate others into Reiki. Therefore, it is important to find a teacher who will spend time in class helping you practice the attunement process. Ask your teacher how much time is spent in class practicing the attunements as some teachers spend little or none.
Also ask them how much support they are willing to give you to begin teaching your own classes. This is important. Some Reiki Masters will have little interest in helping you get started as they are afraid you will take student away from them. If you are serious about becoming a successful teaching Reiki Master, find a teacher who will openly support you in achieving your goal.
Before teaching your first class, additional practice doing the attunements is a good idea. This can be done on friends who already have Reiki. Ask them if they would like to be an "attunement model" and let them know that the additional attunements will be beneficial for them and will refine and strengthen their Reiki energies. Most will gladly agree. If you can't find someone to practice on, you can use a teddy bear or a pillow to represent a person.
It will also be necessary to practice the talks, lectures and meditations you will be leading in class. Make outlines of your talks and practice into a tape recorder. Listen to your tapes and take notes on ways you can improve your talks. Then continue to practice until you are confident. Don't be afraid to use your outline in class. When teaching, relax and let the Reiki energy do the work.
If you have a sincere desire to help others and have taken the time to prepare to teach, you should have no trouble attracting students. It is your attitude that creates the results you receive so, assume success and you will create success. (See the the previous two articles for ideas on promoting your practice)
As a teaching Reiki Master it is important to treat your students with the greatest respect. Know that each has the spark of God within them. Never use subtle threats or the withholding of information to cause your students to be dependent on you. Openly encourage each student to be connected to her/his own power and freedom of choice. What you create for others comes back to you. As you truly empower others, so will you be empowered. Trust in the abundance of the Universe and you will receive abundance and you will also be blessed with peace and joy.
When teaching Reiki to others, it is important to set a good example by being an authentic representative of Reiki energy. People cannot be so easily fooled by surface spirituality now. They want and need a real teacher who comes from experience and is working on her/his own deep healing. This requires one to meditate on the nature of Reiki energy and surrender to it. It is a continual process of working with all aspects of ones being that are out of step with Reiki energy and allowing those aspects to be healed by Reiki energy. We must seek to develop and express the qualities of love, compassion, wisdom, justice, cooperation, humility, persistence, kindness, courage, strength, and abundance as Reiki energy is all of these and more. It may seem paradoxical, but it is true that a true Reiki Master is one who is always becoming a Reiki Master. Like life itself, it is a process of continual growth.
As you do this, you will realize sooner or later that there is more to Reiki than using it to heal yourself and others of specific problems. Reiki has a deeper purpose. In the same way that Reiki is able to guide healing energy when you are giving a treatment, Reiki can guide your life.
There is a perfect plan for your life that has always been present and has been waiting for you. This plan is exactly what is good and right and healthy for you. This plan is not based on what your parents want for you, or what the culture says you need to be accepted, but on what will really make you happy. This plan is inside you and comes from your core essence. Reiki can guide you to this plan and help you follow it. This plan is your true spiritual path.
By treating yourself and others and meditating on the essence of Reiki, you will be guided more and more by Reiki in making important decisions. Sometimes you will find yourself doing things that don't make sense or conform to what you think you should be doing and sometimes you will be guided to do things that you have vowed you would never do. However, by trusting more and more in the guidance of Reiki, by letting go of what your ego thinks it needs to be happy and by humbly surrendering to Reiki's loving power, you will find your life changing in ways that bring greater harmony and feelings of real happiness.
Over time, you will learn from experience that the guidance of Reiki is worthy of your trust. Once you have surrendered completely, you will have entered the Way of Reiki. When you do this, you will be at peace with the past and have complete faith in the future and know that there never was anything to worry about. Your life will work with ever greater harmony and you will feel that you have reached your goal of wholeness even as you continue to move toward it!
In the end, we must consider that a Reiki Master is not one who has mastered Reiki, but one who has been mastered by Reiki. This requires that we surrender completely to the spirit of Reiki, allowing it to guide every area of our lives and become our only focus and source of nurturing and sustenance. As we proceed toward the end of the millinium, the Way of Reiki offers itself as a solution to our problems and a path of unlimited potiential. May all who would benefit from this path be guided to it.

Everything that is alive grows. Because this is what living things do, one could even say that the purpose of life is to grow. Therefore, the desire to grow in ones Reiki potential is a natural expression of ones core essence and of life itself. If you feel this desire in your heart, honor and respect it. Doing so, will fulfill an innate need.

21 Days Cleansing Period!

After a Reiki attunement, there is a twenty-one day period in which your bodies, both physical and energetic, will become acclimatised to the new energy you are working with.

The physical body has spent years gradually stiffening, collecting blocks, and storing toxins that it wasn't able to eliminate right away. As Reiki runs in your body, it will start releasing some of these blocks. As body cells vibrate at a faster rate, they will expel some of the toxins they have stored. As muscle cells vibrate faster, they will loosen and allow circulation into places it has bypassed for some time. All of this puts new demands on the body's systems of balance.

The cleansing process can take the form of increased elimination: through the bowels, which may loosen, or through mucus, which may increase in the nasal passages, or through the skin, where you may sweat more or slough off more cells. You may feel ungrounded or fuzzy headed occasionally as toxins are expelled into your blood to be removed. Realise that these processes are natural and temporary and that they herald a new level of wellness.

During this time you may also experience detoxication on mental and emotional levels. You may have memories come up to be dealt with and released. You may feel hyperemotional, with mood swings and a return of emotions you thought you had dealt with years ago. Again, this is a natural part of healing. It is like your healing has gone into an accelerated mode for three weeks.

Try to meet what comes with openness and acceptance; you will be healthier in the long run. You will benefit from keeping a journal during this process. It can be very healing to open to your inner wisdom and then let your inner three year old have a tantrum on paper! Observe your emotions with detached compassion and you will learn a lot about yourself and be able to let it go.

You can do a lot of healing while you sleep; your dreams will have a lot to teach you at this time. Consider leaving a notebook by your bed each night and suggesting to yourself that you will remember your dreams. Over the three weeks, you will find your memory of your dreams will improve, and you will have a new and powerful tool on your healing journey.

Some sources suggest that during this time, adjustments cycle through the chakras three times, starting at the root and working up. So you might find that on the seventh day from the attunement, your crown is open wide and you feel a bit ungrounded. Be extra careful with your grounding at this time.

Take very good care of yourself on all levels. Try to eat a healthy diet of mostly grains, fruits and vegetables. Drink lots of water to help flush your body out. Consider filtering your water or obtaining spring water to avoid giving your body more toxins to deal with. If possible, avoid non-essential medications, drugs, and alcohol.

Try to extricate yourself from contentious situations and spend some time each day in meditation or quiet, peaceful contemplation. Treat yourself to hot, good smelling baths; not only are they nurturing, but they will help you sweat out the toxins. Don't hold onto any disturbing emotions; try to deal with them and let them go. Continue and maybe turn up the volume on your usual spiritual practice. Feed your soul with beauty: listen to music, engage in any creative hobbies you enjoy, and try to spend some time each day in the healing beauty of nature.

And now you have Reiki to help you through the process. Make a point of giving yourself Reiki daily. If you can't manage a full hour-long session each day, do what you can; I suggest that you put your hands on your body as you fall asleep, asking that the energy will work with you as you sleep. Get plenty of rest and drink a lot of plain water.

Indulge your inner children a bit. Fun and laughter are among the best medicines!

Reiki Energy Healing Effective for Pain Reduction

Science Daily recently revealed a review of a replacement study examining the efficacy of biofield therapies like Reiki, Therapeutic Bit and Healing Bit, entitled "Biofield Therapies: Useful or Hype?", conducted by Dr. Shamini Jain, from the UCLA Division of Cancer Prevention and Management Analysis, and Dr. Paul Mills, from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, and also the Moores Comprehensive Cancer Center in San Diego.

The study found that these biofield therapies like Reiki demonstrate "promising complementary interventions for reducing the intensity of pain in a number of conditions, reducing anxiety for hospitalized patients and reducing agitated behaviors in dementia, over and on top of what customary treatments can achieve.

" Additionally, the researchers found " strong evidence that biofield therapies cut back pain intensity in free-living populations, and moderate proof that they're effective at lowering pain in hospitalized patients plus in patients with cancer."

As a Reiki Master, I've got seen measurable pain reduction quite clearly whereas working with clients in my observe, including chronic pain from existing injuries and conditions like fibromyalgia, also post-surgical pain. I am pleased to see this evidence borne out as a results of clinical research.

To additional demonstrate Reiki's ability to scale back pain and facilitate healing, I would like to share a shopper's recent experience receiving distance Reiki. (Reiki practitioners at Level II or higher are trained to channel Reiki to others without being physically present.)

Laurie tore her meniscus in her right knee, and the resultant pain and swelling made it difficult for her to induce around. None of the standard treatments for her injury - painkillers, steroids and cortisone injections - were providing a lot of relief. She lives in Florida, thus I was unable to treat her in person. Instead, we tend to agreed to line aside time many evenings throughout the week for me to send Reiki to her.

When our initial session, I asked Laurie if she had noticed something totally different and he or she reported she felt heat in her knee and at one purpose, actually felt as if somebody or something was physically manipulating it. The subsequent day, she sent me a text message, saying her knee felt higher than it had in weeks.

When a pair additional sessions, Laurie's healing was thus profound that she wrote in her testimonial, "I might rise up and do all my traditional activities PAIN FREE - one thing I hadn't been in a position to try to to for months!" She was so impressed by the results she is really considering learning how to do Reiki.

As with any complementary therapy, individual response could vary, however many people like Laurie are seeing good results with using Reiki and alternative biofield therapies for management of pain resulting from physical or medical conditions.

In Laurie's case, her doctor was recommending surgery. It will be fascinating to determine if continued Reiki treatment and physical rehabilitation could enable for complete healing of her knee without surgery. The inclusion of biofield therapies, such as Reiki, in the clinical setting may be a welcome presence and probably scale back the number of drugs or different interventions required to stay patients stable and comfy during the healing process.
